Please help,
We have raised and released two squirrels in the past and have been caring for an orphaned squirrel for almost two weeks now.
When he was brought to us, he was frail, thin, weak, had fleas and what we believe was hatched fly eggs(small rice pieces) that were clusters on his fur and on his lip. We were told he was barely moving and found slowly crawling across pavement.. We do believe he was on the brink of death. When we received him he had little life in him... we held him and warmed him and while warming him, we removed all of the grains of rice(fly eggs/maggots), got rid of the fleas, and followed this with a warm bath all while checking for any remaining. He was then treated with Capstar(1/4 tablet) shortly after. We got him on pedialyte for as long as necessary. He was extremely thin. We hydrated for most of that day and then gradually switched him over to fox valley formula that we began diluted with water for a course of feedings until he could take full strength. The diluted formula was worked up to full strength over several feedings(6). He has since gained weight, got his strength back, runs around and plays, appears healthy and normal, however, he has been having a boogery yellow stool. We tried a small dose of panacur for his weight, but that didn’t seem to work. It’s been two days since he finished the three days of treatment. We are unsure what to do. Trying to see a vet Monday when they open to see if they can help. Any advice?? We want him to be 100% and this has been our ongoing battle since we received him. It’s slowed but is still his bathroom. He is about 6 weeks. Furred, eyes open, etc.
