As someone else recommended, you might consider keeping Sleepy for a bit longer.

I release squirrels on my property, I have 8 acres up in NY. I have some squirrels that I handled a lot (not recommending this btw) and once they are on their own for a day or two they don't want to come in anymore. After a few weeks, I can no longer pick them up or touch them. They come to the feeding stations and I can hand them a nut, but no touchy.

I have never had a problem putting young squirrels together, I wouldn't do so with adults, but Juvies, yes. I can always grab whomever and pull them out of the mix if it gets crazy.

I'm curious as to why you had so many squirrels die? If you tell us, maybe we can assist you to help increase your survival numbers.

I find Squirrels are the easiest animal that I rehab. The only time they die with me, is when the finder kept the squirrel and fed it incorrectly and got formula in their lungs.

I had one squirrel last year who died for no apparent reason, right before release. I had her since she was 3 days old, but she had some kind of immune disease, I'm guessing her heart quit.

Anyway, your kids are really cute and good job
