Smile Introduction to new flyer? How do I make this work?

I have been offered a non-releasable baby flyer as a potential companion for my little 2 yr old female, Pixie (hand raised). I have heard that you can successfully keep 2 of different ages together if you do the introduction properly. I have a female who has seizures and the baby male I would get has hind leg mobility issues (although he is not paralyzed). My girl is sweet and pretty mellow. I plan to have the baby separate until he is large enough to hold his own, and after he has bonded to me. Any advice would be very appreciated because I think this could be really great for Pixie. She had not been able to spend a lot if time outside of her cage because of her seizures and I think this could be mutually beneficial.

If you don't get many answers, you should post this again in the Flyer forum. All the flyer people gather there and many only occasionally venture here.

Personally I would keep their cages side by side. Maybe put a blankie in each cage, let them sleep on it for a couple of days and then switch the blankies to the other's cage. Anything you can do to familiarize them with each other until he is big enough to "hold his own". I haven't had any trouble mixing and matching so far, but I have heard that they can fight. If happy, they will also breed. My opinion is to be very careful with that. It could threaten Pixie's life...

Thank you for all of the advice! That all sounds like a great idea! I already spoke to my vet about having the male neutered when he is old enough. I don't want to take any chances. I will likely get him neutered prior to introducing them.

    Thanks again!
