Micro maggots?

Hello.
The neighbour kids found a 7 week old squirrel alone. Mom never came back and they’d been caring for it for about a week until it became very weak and they reached out for help.
Now I’ve got him. He’s improved so much in the 10 hours I’ve had him but here’s the thing…..

While I was feeding him I saw what looked to be like a teeny tiny maggot.
He has no injuries or anything. No missing fur at all. So I gave him a bath. And there’s a looot of them.

What are they? How do I get rid of them? Am I going to die? I make sure to wash my hands every time I touch him but I didn’t see these before and I had him pressed up against my chest for warmth when I got him until I could get his little area set up.

This is fly strike. And unfortunately getting them wet makes them hatch. I would add this post to emergency help- also Googling fly strike and baby squirrels might provide immediate help. I have not dealt with it myself, but see it talked about on rehab sites often. I believe corn starch and q tips are part of the preferred method of removal.

There is also a facebook page called Squirrel Rehab and Advice- if you post there with SR&A at the top, the rehabbers are pretty quick to respond. Good luck with the little guy! Thank you for helping him

Unfortunately no photos.
And also bad news the little babe didn’t make it.
I will however leave this thread here incase anyone needs similar information.
