Too fast of an eater.

I have the 1ml oring syringe and 3 different types of nipples from Henry's. My lil guy chip is a very demanding eater and eats soo fast he has been aspirating EVERY SINGLE FEED for the past 4 days. It's not a huge aspiration but lil milk definitely comes out his nose. I use my nose sucker and suck it out every time. He is showing no signs of AP. I don't apply any pressure to the syringe, he is sucking it down himself but it comes out so fast. I know the oring is designed for smooth sliding but it's almost too smooth. He usually aspirates on the 3rd syringe and once he does he is pretty much done with his food.I will attatch the 3 types of nipples I have tried. They all have the same result. I do have a 3ml oring syringe from Henry's that does not seem to slide so fast but I'm hesitant to try it. Any info is appreciated.
Hes eating usually around 4.5- 5.5 ml every 4.5-5 hours.

Yes, that’s a problem with some syringes.

You will need to create resistance on the plunger so he can’t vacuum down the formula.
If they are sucking too hard/fast, I put a finger on the side of the plunger. This slight force is just enough to slow them down. You can also hold back on the plunger but I find the finger on the side is just as effective and easier.

My favorite nipple is the regular sized Miracle nipple. There is just something about the mini that I don’t like. I think it’s too fat for tiny babies. That just my opinion though.

You definitely don’t want to use the 3mL size right now.

Ashley, both of the nipples you show come with nipple hole pre made. I do use the mini miracle nipple for a pinky but switch to a Catac nipple once they get strong enough to suck hard. These nipples need to have a hole opened with a needle before they can be used. Therefore I can control the size of the opening.

But most importantly, as HRT said, you must create a drag on the plunger of the syringe to control the flow of formula.
