Question Crepe Myrtle Trees. Are they safe???

My dad is cutting down a large crepe myrtle tree as I'm writing this and my Roscoe would love some fresh wood, flowers, and leaves, I just have absolutely no idea if it's healthy or safe for him to eat.
    Thanks in advance!

The ASPCA website says that crepe myrtle trees are non-toxic to dogs, cats and horses. I’m not sure if it means it could be toxic to squirrels, but I’m going to think not. I hope someone with more knowledge will answer your question definitively.

I don’t think they are toxic. The crape myrtle is the official landscaping tree in my home town and they are everywhere in Florence, Alabama. They are good to drop seeds and multiply in random places. They’ve been around for several years and in my yard as well. Chloe use to love to lay on the branches and watch me. I’ve seen lots of squirrels in the crape myrtles and never had a problem with them. My squirrels loved to chew apple and pear tree twigs and hickory nut twigs. I think they prefer fruit and nut flavored branches. You can buy some at pet stores. Or you can go pick some.
