Default New baby flyer, need help with age and poop issues

I am needing some help/advice. A friend of mine contacted me yesterday morning and told me that she had 3 baby flyers that needed help. They were found in a man's attic hurried in insulation. I'm not sure if mom had abandoned them or the man simply took them away as soon as he found them. He took them to her and she had no idea how-to care for them so I agreed to take them and try and save them. So far they are eating like champs but the little female isn't pooping. She has had one bowl movement and that was last night. She is peeing after each feed. I am giving esbilac 1 to 3 ratio with water every 3-4 hours. They are taking in about 1cc. What can I do to help the guy poop? I stimulate after each feeding but I'm starting to worry. Also I'm wondering encourage but can't figure out how to attach a photo from my phone. They have fur and their tails look to be starting to flatten but their eyes are still closed. Sorry for rambling, it's my first post and my first squirrel babies on my own.

Here is a great starter guide. It’s 6 pages long.

Which esbilac are you feeding? How much do they weigh? You feed by weight so that will be important to know. Did you hydrated before starting formula? Sorry for so many questions but it will help to have the info already out there when those with flyer experience come and read your thread.

To post a picture, go to the tool bar at the top of the box where you type. If you click the little icon that looks like a framed picture it will give you a pop up box to select your picture then allow you to upload.

Very well actually! I read thru the doc that I was given in the other reply and noticed I was doing a couple things wrong. Heating pad placement, box material(They were given to me in a cardboard box but now I've switched to a plastic and have the heating pad underneath one half of it). We finally had a good poop today after rehydrating! The babe seems pretty small still but I don't have a way of measuring weight so I'm not sure how much formula to be giving. As of now I'm giving about 1cc and he still always seems to be starving! I wish I could figure out how to post a photo! Also how long do I need to keep giving the water solution? I've been giving it in between feeds and he absolutely loves it lol

It only gives me the option to type a URL. I'm on mobile so I'm guessing that's why I'm having issues. And I'm feeding esbilac puppy replacement milk with prebiotics and probiotics.

I realise I've been saying little guy but here is my sweet *girl* that I'm posting about. That second photo is last night and the one below is right now.

This is tonight after her feeding. Her belly is soft even thought it looks hard in this pic.

I'm glad the information was helpful! She's very cute.

A scale is an absolute must. Not only do you know how much food to give at each feeding, it helps you gauge growth progress and allows you to note problems early if weight goes down. You would also need it if we needed to help you dose medications.

You can buy them at Walmart, Target, Bad bath and beyond, etc. They start at around $8. If you can't get out, they're on amazon too.
    https://www.walmart.com/search/?quer...scale&cat_id=0

Continue normal regular feedings, give extra hydration in between feedings a few times a day until you are sure the problem has passed, then decrease hydrations one at a time watching poops. And the esbilac should be mixed 1 powder to 2 parts water. The 1:3 you are using now is not enough nutrition for them. Again, the scale is essential. Continue hydrations in between while you make the transition to the normal strength of esbilac, watching bellies and poops.

I will go get a scale first thing in the morning. I meant to today but my kiddo had surgery so it's been a rough day. I actually upped the esbilac to 1:2 earlier today. I had read I needed to dilute it for a bit to get her use to it. We have had another 2 good bowel movements and she is actually going a little on her own without stimulation in between feeds. The water has helped so much, I am so thankful for that article. She sure is full of spunk since we've gotten things straightened out!

That's great and you'll have piece of mind because you'll weigh her each morning and really be able to see her growth progress.

I'm sorry your kiddo had surgery. I hope everything is ok and that you get some rest and take care of yourself. We're here if you need us!

I have another question if someone doesn't mind helping me. What should be my next step in housin/bedding?

I usually go from a 10 gallon aquarium to a small cage like this one: https://www.petco.com/shop/ProductDi...&storeId=10151

I have a microfiber bath mat that I put in the bottom of the cage and I pile fleece blankies in one corner where the heating pad is under the cage. I put stuffed animals in there and hanging toys for them to play with. Once they start climbing around I will put a hanging cube in there for them like this one: https://www.petsmart.com/small-pet/t...ube-14432.html

Granted I'm used to raising greys so maybe some flyer people will chime in.

I think you want to make sure there is a place for darkness in there because they sleep during the day. I haven't had the honor of getting a flyer either so looking forward to more specifics from the flyer folks.

How are poops and that belly? How is the kiddo?

I just got a 10 gallon aquarium because she is starting to move more. Both babes are doing great, brother is outgrowing sister by leaps and bounds it seems. I think the the tip of the syringe I had was too big for her so I got a smaller one and she has taken to it much better. Frequent poops, poop everywhere 😂. The little bub has his eyes opened too but little girl doesn't yet. I'll add some cute photos, I finally got them back together today. My dad has the boy because he was a tiny little runt and I was afraid his was too fragile for me to care for because my dad has more experience. Human kiddo is finally doing much better but still not talking much (tonsils out) thank you for asking! Name: 20180402_220224.jpg

Hey guys, its me again. I'm a little worried about my little flyer. She doesn't seem as active today. She is eating fine, voiding very well and staying warm. No unusual noises but she just isn't moving very much. Possible she is just having a "lazy day"?

I don’t have any knowledge about flyers, but if you are really concerned I’d start a new thread in the emergency or non emergency section so more eyes can see it.
