Default Help, squirrels chewing on cast aluminum patio furniture

    Hello everyone,
I own a powder coating business and one of my clients returned some furniture I coated last March. (we sandblasted the pieces first and then applied a new coating) After doing some research yesterday, I have come to the conclusion that squirrels are chewing on the arms of all the chairs and chaise loungers. She is adamant that it is defect in our workmanship, but it is clear that it is bite marks. She says she has lived there for 21 years and never had a problem like this before with the furniture. I am waiting on a response from the coating manufacturer to see if their is something in the coating that might be attracting the squirrels to the freshly new powder coating on the furniture. Can anyone provide me with some information that I can forward to my customer to help her understand what is happening. I have photos but I can't figure out how to upload them. Thanks!

No idea about this but I do remember that particularly in Europe, they had terrible problems with animals chewing the wires under the hoods of cars parked on the streets. Seems the "rubber" looking coating on the wires was actually a soy based product, so basically they had made the wiring harnesses out of FOOD. Might be something to ask the manufacturer about.

    Squirrels chew everything, also.
