5 week old Albert's Squirrel questions

Hello, this is only the second time I've received Albert Squirrel babies (far more familiar with rock squirrels and chipmunks) so wondering what solid foods i should start transitioning them on. The two i have are about 5 week old males. I am giving them Fox Valley 20/50 formula. I have put rodent block and ponderosa pine branches in their enclosure. Any other recommendations or tips for Albert's squirrels? I am in the American Southwest mountains. Thank you!

It sounds like you are doing pretty well. Douglas Squirrels are basically red squirrels without the flashy coloring, so they have the same basic requirements of the other tree squirrels. Stick with the Henrys blocks to make sure they get everything they need and then when you transfer them to a release cage you can start adding the wild foods like pine cones, etc. We need pics - I bet they are adorable!

Thank you Crittermom. Unfortunately one of the babies had an upper respiratory infection that was too advanced for antibiotics to resolve and he passed. His brother is doing great, however, but of course he is now alone which is not preferable. I'll try to post a photo as soon as I can!
