I’ve been battling some soft poop verging on diarrhea for a bit now. We’re currently on metronidazole with little to no improvement. Diastat on order but not in yet. When I went to clean up his back end today as I wiped a whiteish jelly like liquid came out of his anus. I poked and squeezed a bit more and got some more from what would be where an anal gland would be in a dog. There was no swelling that I noticed prior to and the total amount was only a few drops, it did not smell as I bad as I expected it to at all. Up until today we were eating and active as normal. Today we are still eating but not very active and would like to be left alone to sleep. When compared to “sibling” we do feel warmer than we should.
I’m unsure if squirrels have anal glands or what normal material from their glands would look like. But I am concerned it could be an abscess or the beginnings of one.
I’m an LVT and have or likely can get whatever antibiotics are needed if someone can help me with what antibiotics and mg/kg dose.
