    Default Pinkie - which formula?

I was called for a squirrel rescue last night. I haven’t weighed for myself but the gal I got her from said 14g. I only had FoxValley 20/50 here so that’s what I’ve used thus far but I know that needs to change. I have some 32/40 on the way but I read that may be a bad idea? Should I go get Esbilac?

    Been a long time since I’ve had a pinkie. I’m guessing this one is 2d old?Name: IMG_3399.jpg

    HERE'S WHAT I FOUND:
    NEW PINKY FORMULA
3 parts fresh (NOT powdered) GOAT MILK (ex. Meyenberg)

2 parts WHOLE MILK full fat PLAIN YOGURT (ex. Stonyfield)

    1 part Heavy Whipping Cream

Mix throughly and freeze into ice cube trays so that you only need to defrost as much as you will need for the day. (With pinkies, this ain't much )

Because there is no powder involved in this formula recipe, it has the added advantage of being ready-to-feed as soon as it's mixed and warmed up. No need to wait overnight for powder to dissolve.

Ditto what Charlie Chuckles said! After 20+ yrs of rehabbing pinkies I have not found a better pinkie formula than this "3-2-1" goat milk formula.

You only want to feed this alone until 2wks old or so...after that you can gradually add in the 32/40 OR to be extra cautious, use a mix of 2 parts 20/50 with one part Ultra Boost added.

This season I left the goat milk mixture in the formula combined with the 20/50 Ultra Boost. It has worked so perfectly that I'm going to shut up now because i'm afraid of jinxing myself!

Thank you so much for your responses/info.

I have weighed her (Betty seems to be the name we settled on)… she’s 18g.

Hi Betty! What a sweetie. Yep most of the pinks I get in are between seventeen and nineteen grams.

I've had some unfortunate family things happening these past few weeks and have not been on the board much. But I would be happy to answer any questions that you have.If you private message me, I promise to check often.

Y’all are wonderful. Thank you. The person who called me for the pinkie weighed it on Tuesday and said she was 14g. So today’s weight of 18 is impressive… or maybe the 14 was off? She’s doing well as of this evening. Thanks for being available. I’m sad wondering why she was lying on a driveway … so freshly born… but glad to have the privilege of caring for her.

Just out of curiosity, the pinky pictured in this photo-is it a squirrel? I am only asking excuse in the photo the nails are not black- squirrels at least eastern grey squirrels have black nails.
