    Default Bot flies

I originally thought my baby had abscesses from his siblings sucking on him but i am now quite certain they are botfly larvae. Both lesions have a hole in the center and the one on his scrotum had something slightly poking out. I started him on Bactrim this morning. I plan on continuing the Bactrim just to be safe. I was cleaning with betadine but i am now thinking i should stop this so I don’t kill the larva inside him. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. He is still eating, peeing, pooping with no issue. He had a little diarrhea (was guessing from the antibiotic) but last time he went it was back to normal. Thank you everyone!

It does seem to be a bot fly but is he outdoors at times, how old? If he's not been outside I'm wondering how he would get a bot🤔
I agree you wouldn't want to kill the larvae.

He is probably 3.5 weeks now. He is not outdoors at all. When I got them they were covered in fleas and mites so I was assuming they came from grass in his nest. Not sure how long it takes the lesions to show up but the one on his scrotum started soon after I took them in. It initially just looked like a swollen spot so I thought it was from the siblings sucking on him. Until recently I noticed the perfect holes in the center. Do you think he will be ok until they come out? I’ve never had a squirrel with this and he’s so young. He is doing great so far so hoping he will continue to thrive until they come out.
