Sorry not squirrels but baby sparrows.

I have 4 abandoned baby sparrows. Dad died and the mother is now gone. I kept hearing the babies calling but the mother was no longer coming to feed them. I finally took the nest house down and non of the babies had food in their crops. There were five but one had already died. One of the remaining four doesn’t look so good. I’m experienced in squirrels but not with birds especially this young. Is there anyone on here that takes on birds? I’m in Mississauga Ontario Canada. For now I put them in a nest bowl with lots of tissue on a heating pad on low. They were really cold. I saw on YouTube to give mushed kitty kibble that has been soaking in water. They took to it ok for the first feeding. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry I know nothing about raising bird babies except like you've done YouTube.

There’s only two left but these two are strong eaters and seem to be doing well. This is my first time caring for baby birds. Doing my best but just kinda winging it since I have no experience with them before. I also noticed that the eyes are opening. I don’t know how to tell their age.

Can you contact a local bird rehabber? With your squirrel rehab experience, you would probably do a great job with these little sparrows but having an experienced bird person to provide advice/guidance would be helpful and less stressful overall for you.

the first is from when I first got them. The second is today. They grow quick! In response to tubedriver, I think a friend of mine knows a bird rehabber. I haven’t contacted her yet because all is going smoothly. They are eager eaters.

Another update. They are still going strong. As of today They can fly now. I’m waiting for them to start eating on their own. I let them out in a small room to practice flying.
