Hi everyone! New here...
I have 3 baby squirrels approx 7 weeks old that I've been raising for the last 5 weeks. Lately they are fascinated with chewing/nibbling/licking/biting. All 3 of them have oral fixations. They go after clothes, blankets, paws and me! They're really good about it though...they understand the phrase, "go easy". So whenever they begin to get a little outta hand a simple, "go easy" and they resume their nibbling/licking fest.
I actually read somewhere on this board that when they nibble using their bottom teeth they are "grooming" you. I don't exactly remember what it meant...I just know they love me!
I've been introducing solids lately. We started out with Mazuri and Henry's rodent blocks and they really like them! Granted Idk how much they're actually consuming bc when they're done it just looks like a pile of crumbs lol They've also had broccoli, bananas, grapes, apples, and romaine lettuce in addition to Esbilac roughly every 4 hours with an 8 hour strech at night...All receiving 5% of their bodyweight.
Besides the rodent blocks I've read you can give them deer antlers, rocks and cuttlebones to gnaw on. My question is, is there a specific type of cuttlebone? I've seen ones with different minerals in it but I just wanna make sure I'm getting the right ones for them.
Any suggestions or feedback is welcome! Thanks !
