    Default Steroid dosing needed

We are on our way to pick up a young squirrel that I suspect has head trauma. I need dosage guidance for decadron and Prednisone. We will see which i can actually get in him after we have him in possession. I can calculate dose based on guideline once we have a weight. Thank you !

Or other treatment recommendations. He.does not have any visible injuries but falls over to the left. Head tilts to the left. He ran in circle, but moves quickly and jumps. No drainage from eyes and has definitely not lost his fear of humans.

What has happened that makes this a suspect head trauma?

Is he constantly running / moving in circles? And it the head tilt persistent?

Please also post the strength of Prednisone and the squirrel's weight.

Finder just saw it for two days falling over and running in circles. We saw it run in a circle, moved pretty fast, not the meandering i have seen with raccoons that had distemper. No other squirrels in finders block noted to have trouble. In our cage it leans against the cage, falls over sometimes, always seems to have head tilted (when it goes in the box, see the little eyes glowing crooked on night vision). I have Prednisone 10mg but can get smaller. Have decadron injection also. It definitely hasn't lost fear of people so injection would be difficult. Prednisone is pretty bitter, so if thats recommended suggestions for disguising it would be appreciated, too.

I've seen people talking about using arnica also-whats opinion on that.

The prednisone dosing is not a flat, same daily dose kind of simple dosing but graduated and more complex than most dosing...

I worry about this maybe being raccoon roundworm infestation....

How can you tell the difference between the roundworm and trauma other than survival time? It bit glove of finder when she caught it, but I don't think it acted aggressive other than in self-defense when caught. I'm assuming there's really no treatment for the roundworm at that point if that's what this is.

I'm not going to be able to weigh him. He does not look fully grown, looks maybe 2/3-3/4 size of average squirrel. What dose would Prednisone start and how long of a taper and is that even the recommended treatment
