    Default Need help

So I live in Ny and I have a gray squirrel since birth she is not releasable she plays with our cats. We have had her for 3 years now and this is the first time I have ever needed help where I have to reach out to others. I believe our baby has a UTI. For about 2 weeks now I have noticed when she tries to go pee she breaths heavily and sits there for awhile and when she goes she only goes a little bit. Some times she goes allot and gets her belly soaked. It don’t have a smell to it. She acts normal and all but it has been bothering us with how she has been acting while trying to pee. So if anyone can help with advice on what to do I would greatly appreciate it thank you

Can you call around to friends and family to see if anyone has any leftover antibiotics? Those for humans will be fine. Once you find something post what they are and the strength of the medicine and the squirrels weight and someone will help you dose it.

Also she has not urinated today that we have noticed. My husband had he out and she went to her normal spot tried and sat there for a long while trying to go he said she did that 3x I don’t know what to do. I also have read it’s not good to give amoxicillin to squirrels. What can I do. Is there any kind of natural remedy? I’ve even tried cranberries and she wanted nothing to do with that at all.. please help I’m so scared something is going to happen to her.

If it is a UTI you really need to treat with antibiotics. The Augmentin will be an excellent choice. I suggest giving probiotics approximately 1.5 hours after each antibiotic dose. It helps repopulate the gut bacteria that the meds knock out. It will help with diarrhea which is the reason amox gets a bad rap...

I will PM dosing info to you. You MUST have a 1ml syringe (no needle) in order to dose her.
