hi everyone,

something crazy and overwhelming is happening. muchi’s baby boy walked up to our front door. he was covered in fleas so we’ve washed him as best we can. i have zero things prepared. i’ve made a box like it says in henry’s guide. what do i do from here? i haven’t pinched his belly to check for dehydration yet. i’ll do that now just wanted to get a post up asap

i think we killed all the fleas they’re just stuck in his fur. how do i dry him? he’s sleeping right now

once he’s dry i will play the baby sounds so that a mama squirrel might come and see

langley wildlife centre has room so we’re gonna bring him there. they said clearly that they are a no-kill centre

what should the breath be like? slow or like an adults?

I'm not sure what you mean with the breathing, normal I guess would be constant but not clicking.

hi everyone

we successfully gave lil moo to the rehab center. they said that if he makes it, they will return him to us.

i’m obviously very inexperienced but he seemed really healthy to me. i went through the henry’s checklist — other than the fleas he was okay. no external injuries, eyes bright, nose and ears pink, body temp was warm, limbs were good, mobility was good, tail was good, he wasn’t dehydrated, bum hole was clean, penis was good (not elongated), fur was soft. when we got him in his box and blankets, he fell asleep immediately and his breathing slowed. he stayed warm and burrowed the whole drive (35 mins).

the rehab centre took him immediately and i didn’t get to see him or know his condition. they said they don’t provide updates either. it was very quick i feel a little disillusioned.

i have no idea how lil moo got downstairs. but i feel so stupid — we never checked the attic for babies. and now it seems so so obvious they were in the attic. we’re going to look for his siblings in the attic. last season muchi’s babies also appeared in our front yard first before finding their way to her tree to come down to the balcony.

lil moo didn’t look injured at all but i can’t see any path he could’ve taken down that wouldn’t have him tumbling to the ground. when we opened the door he was waiting by the door mat and he had a piece of the fluff from his nest with him — i think it was a ball of muchi’s fur.

as soon as we’ve checked the attic i will update here.

five other babies found!!! we’re trying to figure out how to get them — they’re in a really difficult corner to get to. they’re itchy but healthy looking!

is there a way to lure them away? at this age would they be interested in nuts?

No nuts they need formula, are you able to raise them?
Also to check hydration you can pinch behind their head/ neck area I've never did the belly but I could be wrong.

I wish others would see this and chime in!

Are you planning to take these to the rehab center as well?

Nuts might attract them, you almost need to get a have a heart trap.

we can’t get them down they’re in such a difficult spot. they come out for a second to eat some moss but they can’t make it down. is there any way we can lure them down?

the wildlife center is going to call volunteers to see if anyone has a taller ladder
