    Default AP?

Hey, everyone. Not sure if this is AP or not but wanted a second opinion just in case.

This is Katie, weighed tonight at 71g. I noticed this afternoon at feeding time that she didnít want as much food as usual and seemed more tired. Sheís always excited at meal time and she has been at every feeding today, but this particular feeding she just didnít want to finish. I checked her skin and she was a little dehydrated. The next feedings, I gave her Pedialyte. She took it well and finished 4ccís on every feeding. She also had much more energy.
But tonight after feeding, she ate all of the Pedialyte but also had some sneezing and started making some noises (mostly while asleep). It sounds like clicking to me but she doesnít do it all of the time and sometimes itís loud but other times itís quiet. What do you guys think? Iíve included some links to this thread of her doing it. Any help would be appreciated.

If this is AP or a cold, I may be able to get Amox-Clav 875-125mg tablets when the pharmacy opens tomorrow. Is this safe to use?

Yes, please try to get the meds. The amox/clav is a very good choice. You DO have 1cc syringes, right? That is what you should be feeding with - any larger will make getting a/p easier, and you can't use a bigger syringe to dose because the baby is so small...

The dilution and dosing will be in your PM box before the drug store opens...

Yes, I only use the 1cc syringes. The pharmacy hasnít opened yet but itís estimated to be available around noon.

I did another feeding with her about an hour ago. She was back to her normal self, minus one little sneeze. She took 4ccís of formula, had more energy, and wasnít making any noises that sounded like clicking. She actually was awake and crawling/climbing around her cage before it was feeding time. Praying that we caught whatever this is in time and the antibiotics are filled asap. Thank you

That is good. Even if she snaps back, having the meds on hand is a very good thing.

BTW, stop using the pedialyte and switch to plain water or water with a dash of sugar to help with hydration. The pedialyte has a lot of salt in it and they do not need that. Unless the baby is having vomiting and/or diarrhea, water is a better choice, and even at intake when they come in dehydrated, we don't recommend the pedialyte for more than 24 hours.

Excellent. If she seems perfectly fine when you get the meds, you can make the decision to start or not.

BTW, since you are going to have to go to the drug store anyway, pick up a pack of probiotic capsules - there are tons of brands; I usually get whatever is the least expensive, normally the store brand. The amox/clav is a really good drug - it will treat a BUNCH of things, but it can be hard on the stomach and cause diarrhea. Using probiotics can help prevent that.
