Need help.I can’t figure out how to make a regular post but my girl won’t stop crying

I have an eastern grey female that’s about 2 yrs old and she has been crying since before I woke up so at least since 6:30 am. It’s now 11:40 so idk exactly how long she’s been crying but a minimum of 5hrs straight. She doing her cry she usually does as a warning the “chk chk weeeeeee” and I can already tell her little vocal cords r getting tired but she’s still crying. I’ve help her and rubbed her to comfort her and haven’t noticed anything in particular about her that would indicate any kind of injury so I can’t tell what’s wrong. I don’t know if maybe she is trying to mate ? Or if she is already pregnant because we also have a male that’s about 2.5 to 3 yrs old but she hasn’t shown any interest in him and I haven’t seen any mating behavior from him either but idk exactly what to look for. I’m worried she’s in pain or something. Does anyone have any ideas or tips on things to look out for or behavior to try and diagnose the issue please?

Ok personally I've never had one that continues to cry for that long. And yes they can mate in captivity I know some who had this and babies followed. I'm not suggesting that is the issue however.
A fall possibly? Check her mouth, teeth.

Thank u so much. So far she appears physically fine but I think she wore herself out now. She just finally laid down to take a nap 🤷🏻*♀️ I’ve never seen any of them do that before for so long

Never mind, she woke back up and is back at it chattering again she doesn’t want anyone else around her she just wants to hide and cry but she sounds so sad and you can tell her voice is sore.

I’ve never heard of one doing that for that long either. Is there something outside that has her upset? Is she non-releasable for a medical reason?

She will let me pick her up if she’s in the mood some times she just wants to be pet instead of held. She doesn’t really let anyone else pet her but she will jump on my husband to say high but no one else can really hold her. If anyone one comes over she won’t even jump on them nvm hold or pet. She will play with the male a little every now and then and they sleep together but she doesn’t really have a bond with him. Sometimes she gets reeeeally territorial and will yell at him if he tries to play with her or even go near her. She’ll block him and chase him away from their bed during the day but then they sleep together at night again so idk. We have 6 places that they can pick from to sleep but they still sleep together most nights so idk why she gets that way during the day. As far as today goes though she hardly even wants me to be near her. Even her face looks like something is wrong. She tried to take a nap but looked uncomfortable and then actually hid under the couch and cried for a little which I’ve never seen any of them hide under things only over or on top of things.

I keep looking outside but I don’t see anything and she doesn’t seem to be concerned with anything out the windows. She had a hard time gaining weight and feeding when she was younger so I ended up spending a lot of time with her and babying her. We’ve had several sets of nests that we usually release right at our house and put out food everyday. When we released her siblings and her she just never really left and I didn’t have the heart to force her to stay out. All the others are gone doing their thing and moved on. I looked at her teeth and they seem normal. She put on a bunch of weight just in the last two months so at first I thought maybe she was pregnant but I can’t see any nipples and her tummy is the hardest spot to get a good look with out her moving. I can grab her and she won’t try to hurt me to get away but it will break her trust and idk if it will hurt her. Last night she went to bed like normal in the house with Nugget and woke up this morning to this so she couldn’t have fallen off anything

Given the time of year and her age I believe she is in estrus (heat). It's surprising that the male is not responding to her.

Years ago, prior to the founding of the board; our then obese foxer girl did something strange like this also; repeatedly making an up and down pitched low vocalization, like unto what a mournful sound in humans. This went on for 5 minute during which even when petting her, there was no change. After this, I check her then for any pain response, yet she had none. And though I can't say, to our knowledge she never did it again.

At age 7, being grossly obese, she developed a tumor on one of her toes. And though an exotic vet removed the effected toe; she crashed in recovery. My husband, her first choice in humans, said she had been exhibiting signs of illness. I also had seen her heave a year or so prior.

Not saying her weight is an issue; can you get a weight on her?

She doesn’t seem in pain when I tried touching her and rubbed her so there’s no particular area I can pinpoint as the source. She finally went to bed around 7 last night in a different box than the male. Her face looked uncomfortable or sad idk how to really describe it but u could tell just from her face something was wrong. I kept checking in on her in the box and she was a little restless for a while and kind of slept on her back like she was too tired to do much else. She seemed fine in the morning no crying and back to her usual self as far as I can tell which almost makes it even weirder.

He acted almost like she was annoying him lol he pretty much stayed in his box for the majority of the day yesterday and he kept peeking his head out with his ears back like she was being too loud. Towards the end of the day once she started getting tired she would have a min or two in between crying spells and he would go lay next to her. Some times she moved away and hid like she didn’t want him near her. When she did let him lay next to her she would start crying again and he would take his little hands and gently swat at her face like he wanted her to shut up lol. I’ve never seen him try to hump her but every now and then if she does let him come near her he will try to get her to play with him. He’s a really sweat squirrel and doesn’t act like any of the other squirrels I’ve seen. He’s suuuuper gentle all the time and never tries to hurt any of them and has never tried to do anything more than soft gumming to ur hand when he wants u to play with him or give him a massage. He doesn’t even play hard. When he was younger he would stay on the ground and all the other squirrels bullied him and it was really hard to feed him too. He never really suckled so he was always the smallest before. Once he was on solid food I still had to feed him separate because they wouldn't let him have any and would take it. Now he’s the oldest and was the biggest for a while. Now the female we call Big Girl is bigger than him and she will bully him sometimes. He never wants to fight he’ll just run away. So unless she really wants him to he’s not going to be able to mate with Big Girl lol

I don’t have a scale that works anymore I’d have to get a new one but I’ll attach a couple pictures. She doesn’t seem wildly obese but she took winter pretty serious lol she got the fluffiest coat in and rounded out more than the male that’s about 6months older than her. So far today she seems fine so idk what happened.

She hasn’t done it since that one day but she really cried herself out for one day. I’ve been trying to give her as much extra attention as possible. She’s back to herself sometimes she wants lovins and sometimes she is on a mission lol. I’ve never kept a female long enough to notice them go in heat so it’s a possibility. Do they normally seem like they r sad or uncomfortable when they r in heat? Poor baby acted like something was wrong not like she wanted companionship
