Upcoming Surgeries

Good morning everyone,
I posted a little while ago about my baby needing surgery for odontomas. After saving, planning, taking time off we are headed to Florida on Thursday.
As you can imagine I'm an emotional wreck this week. Any post operative care tips are greatly appreciated and welcomed.
We are staying at the hotel recommended to us by the vet. The reviews are horrendous. I also read many suggestions here for the same hotel since they allow the squirrels. Many anyone give me insight into their stay there? I would sleep in a tent in the woods to help my sweet tree angel, just looking to be prepared

Are you staying at the LaQuinta? I know folks that have stayed there…and I’ve visited……it’s your basic LaQuinta hotel. Nothing fancy…nothing horrible. It’s right on exit 256 in Port Orange.

I live an hour and 15 mins south of Port Orange. I have offered for folks to stay with me in the past when they’ve brought squirrels to Dr. E. Some have and some haven’t, mainly because they prefer the convenience of being closer to the office. It’s an easy drive from my house straight up I95. My husband and I have an extra room and you’re welcome to stay here if you’d like. Send me a private message and we can talk.

Are you staying at the laquinta on Dunlawton in Port Orange? It's always been a good hotel and squirrel friendly however it's best just cover cage bringing in. It's only a few miles to Ravenwood, I'm guessing Dr Emerson will be doing the surgery? If it's the norm the port comes out next day or so but they will let you know especially since your traveling.
I'll be in Daytona that day wish I could meet you but I'm having cateract surgery the same day.
I forgot is it an upper odatoma?

Yes Dr. Emerson will do the procedure. And he has 2 upper odontomas so this is the 1st of 2 visits for us. So after this visit we will be more prepared for the next for sure. I would loved to have met! But good luck with your surgery and I will most certainly be praying for you as well. Thank you so much! The prayer means everything

Hey yall!
We just got back to the room and settled. Elliott did well. The left odontoma was the biggest so they took that one. We will return in 6 weeks for the right one.
I have all the scary and intimidating post op instructions so please continue to pray us through this recovery.

As I sit here with my little best friend I am fighting back the many tears that have come and gone over the last year preparing for these surgeries. Someone who wanted to remain anonymous donated to Elliotts bill. We were floored! I don't share him on social media besides with a few close friends and here of course. I love Thumbelina and Momo etc but I'm super shy and could never be public. So I'm certain it had to be from the squirrel board.

I said all that to say this....I respect this person's wishes to remain anonymous. But in hopes that they see this I want to say thank you. Thank you will never be enough. A thousand thank yous will never be enough. I would say that no one knows what Elliott means to me but you guys are the ONLY people that will ever truly understand that love. I WILL pay this kindness forward in some way. It will not stop here. I hope to be half the blessing to someone else as this person is to me.

And the kindness didn't stop there. The advise, offers to open your homes to us, the prayers/thoughts/well wishes, and just a listening and understanding ear have meant the world to me. Thank you all so very much.

I am so thankful and relieved that Elliot’s surgery went well. I’m sure he’ll be back to himself soon. I’ve never had a squirrel go through that surgery but there are many on this board who have. Any questions or concerns you have will be answered, I’m sure. Give Elliot a kiss from all of us.

Do you go back tomorrow for port out?

They want us to return Monday to have it out. Dr. Emerson must have been super busy cause i didnt even get to meet her. I kinda wanted to cause shes kinda like a celebrity lol. He's drinking lots of water and baby food (I mixed it with some Henry's vitamins). I'll try to break up his blocks and mix that in next. He's still so very groggy which worries me a little.
