Hair loss under the chin can often be from food or liquids that dribble and don't get cleaned off properly. I sometimes get this with my rehab squirrels because they drip their formula down their little chins. Try washing the area with diluted Betadyne or chlorhexadine to make sure nothing gets infected. Also -- does your RGS ever wear a harness or collar? That can do it, too.

If it looks inflamed or irritated you can apply some Silvadene ointment -- unfortunately you can only get by prescription.

No, no!! You CAN get it - here are about fifty different sizes and tubes, etc, but all silver sulfadiazine generic) , which is Silvadene (brand name). Plus, they are selling the brand name now, too. I usually get the 50 gram $16.95 jar - it will last you a decade. I use it on myself sometimes, too...

I have been getting this stuff here for years.
