Default 4-5 week old Eastern Grey/ Placement needed

I'm a veterinary technician and we get all kinds of things coming through our clinic. Someone brought us a baby in a cardboard box this week- about 4.5 weeks old, with hair, eyes closed. I've been keeping him warm, hydrated, and fed, but I really do not want/need a pet squirrel. I can keep him alive, but I have not raised a squirrel before and have no interest in keeping him long term. My NR (brain damage/blind) chipmunk Turbo is already enough!

I'm hoping there's someone/anyone who can take this baby and do right by him (release him). I know that when raised as singletons they don't do well and can become overly attached. I don't want to "break" him by having him all alone, all the way through winter. I want him ideally to be wild, to go and live his little life eventually.

I did call the squirrel hotline number on the website (and got a random human- hello if you're reading this! Sorry again that it was 2 am!), but that hasn't led to any leads on someone to assist.

Is there anyone in the Atlanta metro area with a baby of comparable age who's willing to help me with him?

    Thanks in advance,
    Turbo's dad.

Have you had any replies ? I can ask my network of local rehabbers if they know anyone in that area?

No, no one's gotten back to me. I haven't been able to find anyone in the area either. Everyone seems to be either at capacity or not accepting mammals. (Did you know Chatahoochee Nature Center will only take reptiles now??)

The baby is doing well- eating great, peeing, pooping.

Like I said, I can keep him alive without much issue. I just haven't raised-to-release an infant before and want to give him the best possible chance.

If you are able to ask around, I'd be very grateful! Otherwise, any advice on raise-to-release would be greatly appreciated! My only experience with wildlings has been with injured adults that I've nursed back and then let go. To quote a great philosopher, "I don't know nothin' about raisin' no babies!"

    Thanks,
    turbo's dad.

Turbomunk, sorry for your lack of responses, I think possibly because you posted in the rehab forum. This one, help needed non life-threatening, might reach more eyes more quickly.

I did reach out weeks ago but Lake Hartwell /Sandy's Sanctuary was too far for the member to bring the little one.

They have not logged on to TSB since 9/5.

Thanks Spanky -- I was feeding and reading at the same time and didn't see that. I should have known you were on the case weeks ago.
