I read on the food chart that they have to be “Roasted Only” ,
I have a whole bag of raw almond slices . Not roasted. As long as they are baked in boo balls is that ok? Does the heat make them safe ?

I have no clue who came up with that claim. Raw almonds are fine for squirrels, as long as the food intake is balanced, unbleached is even better. Squirrels living in the outdoors can have more nuts since they get enough sunlight / vitamin D and room to burn off the protein and fat.

Silly semantics. "Raw" almonds aren't raw. You can't buy actual raw almonds. The Raw ones are still heated to dry, they just aren't dry roasted...

Thanks for verifying,
Nuts are expensive, and so is feeding (17??) .
I have a whole bag of unused Oxbow and the almonds that I thought were “not safe”.. But it seemed odd to me too
But it’s on the pyramid, and in another place (not TSB) there are warnings about dangerous chemicals and such in the ones that are not roasted.
Good deal. Gonna use this stuff up in some baked boo balls for the wilds and releases. They can at least get to the stuff that will balance everything out I guess
