My baby squirrel has a swollen belly (124g to 145g in 1day!?!

I beed some advices and home treatment gor my baby squirrel. He’s about 5 week.
They bring him to me after 3 dats of pedialyte every 4 hours.

Then i start fox valley 1 part/ 4part water for 24hours, 1/3 a other 24 hour and he starts to get bigger and look like a ball.
The night untill morning i gave him nothing

He had deflated a but

This morning a try 1/3 For 8ml
And i stop there. 2:00 pmm i gave him only a rodent bloc

Yesterday he was 124g this morning 145g!!!! Something is not right

I can feel his duscomfort..

And me, now verry bother what to do.

Can you help please?

The 4 days of Pedialyte likely has his system really screwed up and some of that salt needs to be flushed out.
You can give her a drop or two of infants simethicone (commonly called "Gas-X", but the store brand is just fine).

I'd also recommend only giving water for now and the simethicone to bring down that tummy.
Is the tummy hard like an air balloon or squishy like a water balloon?

He's belly is hard. But get swollen only when it was 1/3

Have you ruled out Aspiration Pneumonia (AP)?

Are his poos and pees normal?

What is his weight now and does it continue to fluctuate?

1) i am aware of respiration pneumonia. I have one who got a respiratory infection because my emergency seringue felt a part. I had to bring him to see a vet he was on medication for 10days. (Milk dplash in his face so a bit of milk dry in the nostril)

I steel have a bit left for in case of abother bad story.

2) he was so hungry 1st 24h = 1part/4water
Next 24h 1/3. And then he start to pop a little . On the 1/2 he was huge. So u went back to 1/4 and he was not popping.

I can feel something was not wrigth att 1/3 and wow freaking out on 1/2

3) that day is weight was 145g (may 19). Compare to 124g on the 17 of may).
So i stop feeding him for 12h. Give him s few block whike i was waiting fir some help.

It took more than 24h to get some help. Di i improvised by the time with adding 3 seringue 1/3 in 10ml1/4

My support contact group said: continue with the milk. My heart start to fell a part piece by piece.

Thats when i said to myself TSB will do something wiith all your billions and billions post. Thank you so much to help my little Markey❤️. I am he thank you too ❤️

4) he’s steel hanging on. But he’s hungry. He wants milk. And he’s loosing a little of weight wich it is understandable.

5) by the time you came back:i gave him 1 ml at each 45min for 2 hours 10ml of boil water added with 3 drops of ovol

6) can i give him s little bit of milk 1/4❓

I forgot to say. When he was in my had he try to **** and i can see i think cuz you talk about salt and so evident now …pedialyte have salt!!
I saw «*salt*» and water coming out frim is but!

IMO I would feed him full strength formula... He needs the nutrition. Iif you can feed him up to 4% without the belly getting large, great. If it balloons up again and is squishy (not hard), I'd give a bit of water every 2 hours until his belly calms down. And a couple drops of simethicone.

5ml is the acceptable limit for this drink.
he swelled slightly on the sides of his body.
Bit nothing to make him inconftable

he was happily happy and jumping around to shave another feed.

I would go ahead and let him eat a bit more at the 10:30PM feeding and if you can feed him again in 5 or 6 hours, I would do that for any baby like this that is compromised. I say 5 - 6 hours... arrange it to correspond to be in the middle of when you'll be preparing to feed the rest of the crew. Compromised babies get ATC care IMO (LoL).

Gradually work up to 5% and more (7%) as he tolerates.... I think his body is welcoming the nutrition it needs.

Good afternoon

Here's some news about my little Marley

Since our last conversation I feed him every 5 hours and add 1ml each time.
(see the enclosed picture. I have a binder where I write down everything for everyone.)

1) this morning his weight was 160 g. Which is a lot considering the day before 145g❗️❓️ Isn't it❓️

2) But accurate if we consider is age which is 6 week for sure. Is it correct to say that❗️❓️

(Arrived may 15 and is weight 113g on 3days pedialyte)

He didn't look like a balloon after breakfast but look like a fat guy...and still hungry 🙃
he doesn't look incomftable but very very disappointed to not getting more milk. He lay down next to the door and staring at me feeding the crew🥰

I will continu to feed him by adding ml gradually, 5hours at the time
