Default is a green fresh apple branch with leaves OK to put in with 5-6 week old babies

I would like to give these 2 babies something to play/exercise on and wanted to make sure that freshly cut branches with leaves are OK to put in their containers.
I snipped a nice branch off of our apple tree (don't tell my husband - LOL), we don't spray because the deer like to eat at it, and I checked it for bugs but still unsure if it is OK to put in their container. Any advise GREATLY appreciated.

    I wouldn't: https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/anima...c-plants/apple

What would you recommend for them to climb and chew on?
Should I be looking at dead dry limbs?
We have maple, walnut and other trees in our yard.

Sweet maple and silver birch are both good; but pass on the red maples.

Would love to see a photo of the babies!

Should the branches be dead wood or can I cut a piece of the tree?
Maybe add a pine cone? I don't want to overload their "house" but I want to provide some playful exercise for them.
Thanks so much for your help

Do you have any mulberry? They can eat any part of it and it grows like a weed/trash tree in a lot of places.

Thank you so much for that information. I will seek out some mulberry.
Just want to take all precautions to make sure that I don't put anything in there that will harm them in anyway.
They ate avocado today for the first time today. What a sight.
    Thank you again.
