The truth? It's a high level of intuition. I can read situation and behavior, from both people and animals to great depth, and consequently create a matching demeaner and surrounding that, in this instance, encourages trust.

Another example are dogs. Many owners never train them. In those families the dog is often the alpha and does what he or she wants. In most cases I can dominate those dogs within 1 or 2 minutes, make them sit and calm down, right in-front of the owner.

That being said, this degree of intuition comes with a high price. You can't turn it off, so you will see things regularly that are very disturbing.

    Some more photos from today.

Gotta love that expression. Had the cell phone 3 inches away.

Man, oh man, you clearly have a relationship there. I really thought that you would have to completely reforge your relationship - which basically is what happened - but I thought it would take more than 30 seconds! LOL. I really don't see any other choice but that you move to the beach...

That is my plan, believe it or not. Traffic has become really bad around here with all the tourists (yanks) around and people moving here (damn yanks). It currently takes me one hour to get to the beach.

Problem is, the real estate market exploded in South Florida. While my house doubled in value in the past 2 years, so did all homes right on the beach. Homes are now going for at least 2 million on the second row, first row is 5 million plus, and very small older condos in the 3rd or 4th row on the island are still 700k.

The tree house makes sense, but the local authorities would find out soon.

I guess you can't just live in the vehicle? Must leave beach area by sundown or whatever?

So glad she blew off the "kidnapping" incident and you're square again.

I am just curious and nosey. I grew up in Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale; dad lived in West Boca. Whereabouts in So Florida are you?

Indeed, that entire beach was turned into a park, so they can impose local laws, including no RV and no over night parking. I got around the "No RV" rule with my minivan camper, put can't park past midnight. There are some side streets where I could go hiding, but there is always the risk that locals will call the cops for a "suspicious" vehicle standing in-front of their home.

Also, while I could live in my minivan (and many folks do), I'm a bit too old for that lifestyle. Staying for a couple nights on a long weekend is ok, but after that it feels cramped.

I still feel bad about that "kidnapping". I wasn't thinking...

I used to live on Miami Beach for many years, got tired of party central, and moved to the west coast (of Florida) about 9 years ago, right between Tampa and Sarasota.

When I moved here 9 years ago it was considered to be in the wood, but now several hundred thousand people from up North found this hidden gem, and there are new communities all over the place. If I wouldn't be so in love with my local beach, and the squirrels, the weather, our current governor and no state income tax, I'd be leaving for Wyoming and buy at least 100 acres.

Don't tell me you have an outdoor range in you backyard. I'd be so jealous!

I’m directly across the state from you on the barrier island on the east coast. . We’re suffering from the same issue….too many folks relocating to this area. ☹️

Well I'm a Florida gal for sure, in fact I consider where I live an extension of Georgia 😉
I'd live further south for weather ONLY I hate anything under 70!
Live on 3 acres in a house built in the early 20s. Completely fenced in even barbed wired👍
Gun range 🤫 well all I can say is come on over anytime and bring your favorite piece 😃👏

That would be wonderful. It’s always nice to meet other squirrel peeps! I’m about 18 miles south of Cape Canaveral.

Now its all over. I was not only invaded, I became one of them.

I think she is having babies. I fed her a few nuts outside and she disappeared, most likely into her nest.

Meanwhile I had 6 other grays visiting me in my camper, 3 of them walked all over the place including me.

I already started scratching myself like they do. I'm infested with mites, lice or fleas. I have the skin bumps to prove it.

If you can get hold of a tube of Ivermectin there's enough in it to treat all of you.

Except the Queen Mother if she's preggers.

I am wondering, is it just you, or do you see them casing other people's vehicles also? I had to stop leaving my car windows down on hot days because the squirrels would get in my car.
