My baby ate some paint chips

I have a 12 week old eastern gray girl named Winny. She gets all the correct food including 2 picky blocks per day. She is very active, playful and such a sweet girl. She has never once shown any aggression.

Tonight I heard her chewing on the back side of the curtains and went over and noticed she ate some of the paint off the walls. She seemed fine but then about 20 min later she was limp and barely moving… I gave her water, prayed over her and held her about 15 min. She is now acting totally fine. She’s climbing, running, drinking water and eating.

Is there something else I need to do to make sure she is ok? Or since she is acting fine now is she fine? Any help would be appreciated so much.

If it was not much she ate, there is likely little to worry about. Lead based paint (like from the 60's or earlier) can be a problem depending on how much she ate... then oil based paints can be a smaller issue. Most modern paints are latex or water based... depending on the age of the house, it could be a mixture!

If your walls are "drywall" she may have been trying to get at the "gypsum" in the drywall which is a source of calcium (calcium sulfate dihydrate). If that was her goal, she likely would done a bit more destruction that simple the paint off the surface.

No, you are a good friend to your fur baby and a good mommy. It is right to be concerned in a case of possible poisoning and to act fast.

Yes they remove paint from doors, plaster from walls .
I'm not saying that's great but paint isn't like it use to be and I live in a house that was built in the 20s
I try to stop the chewing by adding fresh branches daily....I live in a forest inside my house 😆

Thank you! That makes me feel better! This house was built in 1999. She has TONS of things to chew on.. and usually stays out of trouble.. she’s out of her cage all day long and I watch her non stop.. she was behind that curtain maybe 90 seconds lol I guess that’s all it takes!!
