I need to apologize to everyone . I am new to posting any forum and are still learn what does what . I went back and was trying to read the thread to see if I missed anything. And realized I have made things confusing. Please understand I'm caught between my vet texting on one and everyone helping on this end it's difficult to keep up responding to and when. I cant tell every one how much I appreciate everyone's patience and understanding . Jake is very special part of my family and I don't want hurting in anyway and want to what's best for her. Which is for her to stay with me and in the home she knows and loves . SHES VERY HAPPY AND VERY MUCH LOVED. I don't want the local game warden taking her away and having her put down. Which has been also thrown at me today , all because it's not legal to give a squirrel a loving home with your family. My vet is willing to help with what she can but she has no experience treating squirrels, but she is willing to help out with what antibiotic she has on hand. But she also believes it's a matter for the game warden and fells that I never should have taken her in when she was a baby and that I should have let her die and let nature take its course. Jake is two years old and has had no ther health issues since she was brought to me when she was 5 weeks old and was found drowning in a creek. Until now , which I thinking is an abscess to her gums. I have three antibiotics available to me the first being SMZ-TMP 960 mg, the is Baytril in tablet form and Clindamycin in drops. My vet has been asking for the dosing which she does not have experience with . If she will let me just pick it up from her and have choice , which would be my best option? Please help

I would get the Clindamycin drops. If she will also sell you a couple of Baytril tablets that would be wonderful….just in case the Clindamycin doesn’t work or the meds need to be stacked. Baytril would be in a 22.7mg strength. This strength is very common.

I’m not sure what the strength is for the clindadrops, but whatever she has someone can work with it and dose it. The strength we usually see with Clindamycin is 25mg/ml.

AGAIN, YOU DONT WANT HER DOSING IT YOU JUST WANT THE MEDS! Someone on here will dose when u let us know what strength you get.

Can you get us a weight on your squirrel?
All medications for squirrels are dosed by body weight.
An actual weight is best, if you can not get a weight posting
a full body picture can allow a reasonable guesstimate on weight.

Clavamox would be the better med stacked with the Clindamycin for this type infection.
Augmentin is the human version of clavamox.
We can start with the baytril but I would check/call around to family and friends to
see if anyone might have any Augmentin. You would only need 1 pill.

She certinally is a hefty girl isn't she...
I will work this up and send you dosing for both meds in a private message.
If you are able to locate any Clavamox or Augmentin we will switch over
    from the Baytril to it.

Do you have a 1cc syringe for dosing?
Are you comfortable with reading a syringe?

Yes,, she is very hefty. She loves most fruit and vegetables plus she has never been picky she'll try anything at least once.. Her favorites are blueberries and sweet potatoes.
Im diabetic so I'm very familiar with reading a syringe and I believe I have 1cc if not I'll pick up at the feed store.
How long should I give the meds?

    Replied to your pm.
Also forgot to add: Be sure to give her something for an extra probiotic while taking these meds.
Recommendation is to give 2 hours before taking or 2 hours after taking the meds.

I found Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium tablets 875mg/125 mg the bottle says this substituted for Augmentin 875mg tablets. Will this work?
