Default Adult squirrel by side of road only using front paws

Was on a walk and noticed a squirrel in the grass pulling himself by front paws through the grass not using back legs at all. Did not get too close but did notice evidence of trauma other than not using back legs. Should I try to catch him and take him to the vet? If so, how to catch him without him getting hurt further?

I would try to get him as soon as possible, he needs help. He is very compromised and he easy prey. He most likely will not survive long in his condition.

I came across one hit by car not using back legs at all. I slowly walked over to him, he tried to drag himself away from me as fast as he could using front paws only but I was able to throw my jacket completely over him to pick him up. Kept him completely covered, held him in my lap while I drove him 30 minutes to local wildlife rehab center.

Good luck, hope you are able to catch him.

Drugs like prednisone and rest can sometimes do wonders for squirrels with such injuries. So, there is hope if you can give him some help.
