Squirrel needing urgent medical attention!

Dear forum users,

A squirrel that I rescued and successfully released in early March just came back to my door with an apparent front leg injury. It looks to me like an open fracture (no bone sticking out though) and is quite swollen. I can treat the wound but I am not sure what else he needs. Your help is appreciated!

Confinement to limit harmful activity.
A Pain / anti-Inflammatory and an antibiotic to prevent infection.
Possibly needs to be wrapped?
Posting a picture of injury could be helpful for assessment.

If only.....

Remember we can use human ab's, if you can find someone that has any we can tell you if it can be used and how.
If you have a fish store /supply they may carry Fish Flox which is Cipro (Ciprofloxacin)
In the meantime you can get and give infant Ibuprofen which will help reduce swelling and inflammation.
Also, I would clean wound with diluted Betadine and apply a thin coat of an ab ointment.
I'm glad it's not as serious as previously thought...

Thanks again. I have ordered fish cipro and it should arrive tomorrow - i hope it won't be too late. Please tell me how to administer. I would say he is slightly under a pound in weight. Cheers, Alex

How old would he be?
If you can't weigh but post a full body picture it could help evaluate his weight better.
Do you know the milligrams of the Fish Flox you ordered?
Usually it's 250mg or 500mg, it will make a difference when dosing.
If you don't know let me know when it comes in, it will be written toward bottom of bottle.
