Was wondering if anyone has done RFID monitoring of squirrels? The thought would be to place a microchip into the squirrel for those squirrels released into our yard just before release. I believe the RFID readers have a very limited range of just a few inches. We would place the reader at the entrance of a jar feeder, and have it communicate bluetooth or ethernet to our computer and could then track if the squirrel is one we released. It would be interesting to collect data on eating habits and life span, and in the unfortunate instance the squirrel is returned to us, to know the previous history.

I see lots of different devices for sale. Does anybody have any experience with this?
