How often to clean nest? What else needed?

Hi again, Squirrel Girl (Squirrelee) loves her nest and works so hard at it. How often should I clean it all out? Every couple days, I clean out the area where she seems to pee, but the areas where she hangs out/plays/sleeps I only change out every week or two. (I find poo in the other areas, but never pee.)
Also, is this enclosure big enough for overwintering? It's an old bird cage, 2.5 x 3.5 x 2 ft. What else does she need?
(I change out the cardboard boxes as needed, which she loves to climb on, hide in, chew up, etc.)
