How Long should I use Baytril

How many days do you administer an antibiotic? I’m giving baby squirrel 8weeks Baytril and I’m unsure for how long to continue it. I think he is having side effects to it because now he’s not eating, lethargic and sometimes he seems almost like he could throw up? Do I still continue with giving it to him? I have already checked his dosages on here in another post so that’s not the cause. He has been on it for 5 days now.

I would stop at 5 days.
And then (more than 6 hours after the last Baytril) give him a little vanilla yogurt once per day to replenish his stomach probiotics.

Thank you! He still won’t eat and seems like he might be having problems with breathing/swallowing? His breathing is very heavy and has me worried.

I have been trying to give him a little bit of goatmilk/yogurt mix formula throughout the day besides hydration with apple juice diluted with water. Yesterday all I could get down him was 15.75 cc’s of liquid which includes apple juice/water mix and 3 cc’s of that being the goatmilk/yogurt mix.

I would stop the antibiotic. By the way, is the Baytril the oral type or the injectable type?
We use both but the injectable type must be diluted when given orally because it is caustic to tissue. This class of antibiotics can have serious side effects so I would NOT give any more. I hope your baby rallies.

Thank you guys! I really hope he pulls through this. I have stopped giving him Baytril (Oral Solution) thank goodness! I didn’t know you have to dilute the injectable so thank you for telling me! Future reference but hope it’s never needed 😢
