Default Nugget has a rash and maybe staph?

Hi everyone, Nugget is abou 5 years old and sometimes gets very red skin between his rear legs and now I have noticed rash/ red skin under his scrotum, he has been itchy near his back end and I found a scaley circle that looks a little like staph. I didn’t want to go running for the revolution before checking in with you here....I flea combed him, nothing, but he does go outside on a harness.
What do you think is causing this and what’s safe to use for him?
    Thank you
I tried to upload pics from my phone but it doesn’t seem to be working....oh it did work!!

It’s hard to say for sure but I think I would treat for ringworm (fungus) first. You can buy OTC fungal creams at the pharmacy. Rub some into the area for a few days and see if there is any improvement.

If that doesn’t work, the Revolution might not be a bad idea. Squirrels get very tiny mites that are difficult to see. They are much smaller than fleas.
