Default When do you know babies are ready for release?

I've read that 12, 14 and 16 weeks are all when you should release red squirrels. Mine are currently 10 weeks old and are starting to not want formula very much at all anymore, they're eating mazuri as a staple diet and nuts, fruits and vegetables as daily treats. They're also starting to distance themselves a little more from me, when will I know they're ready to go? When they stop formula all together, or is there a preferred weight?

Also i can't release them at my house due to my dog and it'll be impossible for my neighbors to not see them in my yard and possibly report me. There's a park within walking distance from my house that i can go to every day and refill food and water. Would this be okay?

They need to be soft released. A hard release meaning just lettuce g them go in the park will drastically cut their chances of survival.
