Broken Baculum
I’ve never dealt with this particular injury before so I’m curious as to if anyone else has had a patient with a broken baculum.
My patient is a western gray, about 7-8 weeks old, who fell from his nest and had a very bad fall. He had a concussion, a nasal injury, was starving, had bugs all over him, and then was kept by the rescuer for several days.
While doing my exam in addition to the injuries listed above, his penis looked as if it had some type of fracture and was painful for him to be touched. He is able to urinate, and it isn’t severely swollen, but I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this type of injury? I have him on metacam and he’s been stabilized but just still seems like he’s been in pain from that, as well as his concussion and nasal injury.
I suppose I’m looking for help on if anyone else has seen this and if it caused any complications down the road?
