Red face Hello from Ohio squirrel mommy

Hello all! It's been about two years since I was last here! I currently have 2 rehab for squirrels Munk and Zed. Munk was found in the middle of the road nearly frozen and barley old enough to walk, unfortunately her parents met the rainbow bridge next to the road. She is a spoiled queen! She is about 7 years old and very healthy. Zed was approximately 6 weeks old his mom met the same sad end as Munks.he was full of mange, fleas and very hungry, he was trapped under a neighbor's sink!! Zed is now approximately 6 and a very timid guy and also very healthy! I have loved these babies a long time. My heart is broken as I will need to find a no release home for them both, though I love them both I had to move in town and so they no longer are able to have a play room to climb in, just their cages and I know it is not good for them. .

So i will return here lend a hand as needed and now with the knowledge I have perhaps rehab babies to be set free. I didnt have the knowledge 7 years ago to rehab and return to the wild. I fear Munk would approach and scare people shes very life filled and friendly when she is out, she will steal anyone's food put of their hands, she does bot let anyone into the cage though, and will become angry when you try lol. and that Zed would be without knowledge to help himself after such a long time in a home.

    Hope everyone is well

They are beautiful, and kudos to you for keeping them happy and healthy!

I have to think, at their ages, that the tradeoff of less free range time to stay with the person who knows and loves them best may be worth it. Even if they can't have their own room anymore, is there a chance you can give them enough out-of-cage time to make it up to them? And even if it's less than they're used to, might staying with you outweigh that loss? Just a thought.
