    Question Probiotics?

Does anyone know if the probiotics on Henry's is safe for squirrels? Chippy just finished her antibiotics and we would like to build her system back up.

    Exclamation Re: Probiotics?

Anyone? Please? Little Chippy is eating a small amount of her Henry's block but only one a day if that. I'm worried about her, shes lost weight. Im not sure how long to expect her teeth and mouth to be tender after being dremeled down. But I do know after antibiotics it's always good to follow up with probiotics, are the ones from Henry's (the one in the picture above) safe for squirrels or are they just for cats and dogs?

Yes, you can use these. I've used these myself for squirrels.
They have two different kinds, just make sure to get the one for mammals.

Without the support of prebiotics, the source that the good bacteria (probiotics) feed upon, the probiotics aren't as effective. Prebiotics with probiotics support the good gut bacteria om in the colon/cecum, which is needed to aide in good digestion that supports nutrient availability from the diet. It also is vital for reason of degrading calcium reducing anti nutrient (oxalates) that lower the availability of calcium from the diet to the body and the bones. For this reason to use a probiotics without the prebiotics (insoluble fiber that remains in the gut) to support it, the bones aren't as well supported from the meal.

This is a Soil Based Organism probiotics with prebiotics source, that is noted to have no toxic dose. To support a balanced biome in the gut you don't want give this in excess. For the purpose of maintenance, recommend including 1/64 Tsp. into plain organic yogurt base daily.

Yes, the FV probiotic sold by Henry's will work for squirrels.

Yes, they are safe for squirrels....
Don't know if you did or didn't but it is always recommended when giving antibiotics
to give a probiotic 2 hours before giving or 2 hours after to protect their gut flora.

The effectiveness of probiotics is diminished in the absence of prebiotics, which provide a food supply for the beneficial bacteria that are being supplemented. Good digestion aids nutrient availability from food, and prebiotics and probiotics both work to encourage healthy colonic and cecal bacteria populations.
