That's definately pneumonia. Go ahead and get a weight on him or her ready if you have a scale that weighs in grams. Keep it warm. A admin or rehabber will need a weight to do drug calculations. Theres a link on acceptable meds for squirrels. Hold on and I'll try to find the link. I am not a rehabber but have taken them n like that and took them straight to the vet.

do you live in sc or close my vet sees squirrels. I am sorry I couldnt fond the link with exact meds that are acceptable if you dont have the go to antibiotic of baytril. I am here for moral support if you want to. I know when I went through it I would have talked to anyone as I was up every 2 hours with me and the squirrel in the bathroom so he could breath in the humidity from hot shower water. (Just humidity, he was not in the shower)

If u r close to sc; my vet is open today if you cant find a vet where you live.
Private message one of the members I put on the list. They are smart and will do anything to help you.

    Sincerely
    Mary r.

This is a 6 page list of baby squirrel care. Most importantly is feeding technique.

Best med for pneumonia that is fairly easily find is Cipro. Generic name is ciprofloxacin. It is used for human urinary tract infections, which are mostly a woman thing. Call all of your female friends and see if anyone has any Cipro. You just need one pill. Find out the size in milligrams - most of the time it is 500 but they do make 250mg too and we will need to know that info.

If you can't find Cipro, see what you CAN find and come back and tell us.

To dilute and dose any drug for you, WE will need the drug name, pill size and weight in grams of your baby.

YOU will need a 1cc syringe, which is what you should be using for feeding anyway.

I’m so sorry, I was up all night with him and only got about 2 hours of sleep! The only person I really talk to is my mom and she doesn’t have any cipro any other suggestions would be amazing. I really don’t wanna lose my baby

You need to call around to friends, family, anyone you can to see what kind of ab you can come up with!
You would only need 1 pill, let us know what you can find and we can tell you if it can be used how to breakdown and dose.
Getting an ab is the only way he is going to survive this pneumonia.

In some (human) cases prednisone is used with an ab for pneumonia usually not instead of.
I personally know of no use on a squirrel for Ap.
The Amoxicillin although not the best for ap it would be usable and could work.

Please post a full body picture of this baby for a guesstimate on weight.

Great! Give me a few minutes to work it out and I'll send dosing in a private message.
