Default Is this a seizure? Or extreme hunger/gas pains?

    https://youtu.be/ChkSNfcWcY0

Does anyone have any opinions on whether this afterwards to potentially be a Cipro related seizure? Or could this be hunger/ gas pains?

Please don't think I was being callous not comforting her in the video; I was trying to be quiet to see if I could catch the type of cry she had made when having an episode like this earlier today. Also, she wouldn't eat yesterday during her first day of Cipro/battling AP. I was still keeping her hydrated though and at her last feeding she had a voracious appetite compared to before.

    Thank you ever so much!

Red, has she done this after every dose of Cipro?

If so, how long after the dose?

She had been a little "twitchy" before all of this but more like she was startled, but this happened about 45 min after the Cipro. She was also exhibiting biting type gestures on the old tshirt swatch in her box. She is having some GI issues (a little bit of diarrhea with the antibiotic as well which I'm trying to combat with yogurt).

How many doses of Cipro has she had?

How many times has she had the movements like in the video?

She's had three doses of Cipro (moved her to Amoxicillin last dose to be safe). She was like this on and off last night after the first two doses and then only once today. I've just noticed a sort of noise has come back too. Not quite clicking, but a noise when she takes a breath. It's hard to describe.

In the video she clearly has pneumonia. The clicking is quite clear. I can also she her pulling hard to breath. This is a dilemma that I will have to leave for you to decide. Baby squirrels are twitchy but the first video to me looked more than just ‘twitches’. I really don’t know if it’s associated with difficulty breathing or a seizure. It concerns me that she started this behavior after the Cipro.

Here are the facts.... aspiration pneumonia is deadly.
Ciprofloxacin is the best treatment option for AP.
Amoxicillin might work but it’s not my first choice.
Could the behavior be from a seizure... maybe. IDK
Could the behavior be from the difficulty breathing... maybe. IDK

In a perfect world I would ditch both antibiotics and go with Plan C (Doxycycline or SMZ/TMP) but I know how difficult it was for you to find the ones you have.

I really can’t tell you what to do but if the clicking is still there tomorrow you might have to take the risk and use the Cipro.

Update: last night, she seemed to be going downhill on Amoxicillin alone. At that point, it was Cipro or likely death. Good news: she tolerated the Cipro with no reaction at all (spare the expected diarrhea)! Still clicking and labored breathing but eating like a champ with hydration breaks in between.

In fact, she's up to 60g! Should her Cipro dose be increased to match the increase in her weight?

    Thanks!

We don't change the dosing with a weight gain/loss.
If an animal is on a drug for an extended period of time,
    then we adjust accordingly.

Give her probiotics when she's on antibiotics.
I get the ones from the drug store, pull them apart
and give ~ this amount (O) the size of a capital O.
Administer the probiotic ~2 hours after giving the antibiotic.

Thank you! I have been giving her Stonyfield unflavored whole milk probiotic yogurt but have decided to switch to Bene Bac. 🙂 Jeesh... I'm "all in" now!
