Billy is an adult squirrel. It may be a blockage. The swollen section is in his groin. He has lost hair on this section. He has stopped eating and now sleepy.

The swollen section is mostly on the left side.

Poor Billy. I have no first hand knowledge of this problem but there is a thread that discusses a similar problem. According to this thread it could be an infected scent glad. It can cause blockage.

    Do you have vet access?

    How old is Billy?

Billy is a squirrel I released three years ago. He always comes back when he is hurt. Last Saturday I had him in emergency for an ulcer eye. I just noticed this swollen area today. However I have been feeding him and putting Tums in his water. Do you think the Tums bound him up? He is still pooping but they are extremely small pellets.Or could it be a hernia?

Can you closely examine his anus and make sure it is open? I have seen squirrels get soft, pasty poops that then dried and effectively pasted the anus closed. I can't imagine another reason save for some sort of hernia that they would collect elsewhere unless they couldn't get out otherwise. If this is the case you will need to soak the area with warm water to soften the poop enough to clear the anus so what is behind can come out.

Let us know how the soaking goes.
We had this problem a few years back with a beloved 9 year old squirrel.
She ended up having to have an operation to clear up the blockage.
The squirrel was already on Baytril, but the vet said this could have been
much worse had she not been on an antibiotic. It probably saved her life.

Do you have a vet that can help with this, if it is blockage?

Below is the thread and there are photos on page 3.

Billy is pooping little pellets not the normal size. I have give him Clavamoxin. The swollen section is now not only on one side but both. However it hasn't gotten bigger just moved. I read a thread that said it my be a swollen gland that is blocking his poop. How soon did you take your little one to the vet? I am not sure if i should wait to see if the antibotic works or go asap. I have a vet I trust about 6 cities away that I use for emergencies.

The fact that he has stopped eating and is sleeping a lot indicates that it is already urgent.
Call the vet first thing in the morning, I wouldn’t wait. The blockage needs to be cleared. The antibiotic can’t do that.
