Thank you for these suggestions and willing to try anything. Hopefully the skin test will be quick .
Yes, we ruled out mange and yeast with cytology but thank you for suggestion .

Marie, I’m afraid the PCR test won’t have a fast turn around time. That is a very specialized test and will likely have to be forwarded to a reference laboratory. I wonder if a swab of the mouth would yield any more WBC’s. Not definitive, but lymphocytes are associated with viral infection while neutrophils (PMN) are associated with bacterial infection.
A CBC with differential (Complete Blood Count) might be helpful. A break down of the WBC’s might be a clue. In addition to getting a count of lymphocytes and neutrophils you would also get a count of eosinophils. High Eosinophil counts are associated with allergic reactions or parasites.

Long day; and yes no luck with labs here locally. I have a number for a referral lab the DVM in MD uses . They were closed today , but I’ll check first thing in am . Dr. Emerson was also unavailable today, but they said I could try tomorrow. I’m basically just accepting all I can do is treat what can be treated ( with antibiotics) and hope for the best with what can’t be fixed ( viral ) . Just going to keep her clean, nourished , and loved and hope for best . Thank you for all the suggestions; will
stay in touch , off next few days thankfully !

Just wanted to show you my Doodles now
She’s completely back to normal ! All the hair came back except for a couple places. The puffy around her eyes has receded and she’s back to her happy, Rollie Polie /neuro self .
Just wanted to say thanks again for all the guidance that helped her slow but full recovery

Glad Doodles is feeling better! Did you ever figure out what was going? You treated with AB and pain meds?

We are very relieved , and yes just followed the antibiotic guidelines and just a few doses of Meloxicam in the very beginning. I also followed as many of the Pox treatments as I could, that came from here and also from a perfectly timed gift ( that amazing Wild Baby Mammals book!!) I never was able to acquire all the ingredients to make the nut paste
that was in the link , but I did follow the lesion cleaning and isolation suggestions from that amazing pox thread. None of the others ever caught it Not even 100% sure that’s what it was (?) but sure was suspiciously similar to some of the pics I saw. Maybe just wasn’t the full blown deal ,
Just glad she’s well!

Marie I really really don't think that was Pox. But either way I'm thrilled she's back to her beautiful little self. And please know the ingredients are only meant to boost the immune system so whether it was or wasn't pox nothing was going to hurt her.
When I have a wild that struggling I feed them the "pox nut balls" just to boost them. Once they eat them around is astounding.
