I don't know what to do. What if he has internal bleeding? There's no where take him, its Sunday. I'm so upset. Why would a squirrel fall? This is his 7th day after release. He's about 10 months old. He was eating mulberries. Could he gotten intoxicated from theme. What should I do?

Now he's bleeding from his nose.

Tell us how he is acting. Does he seem injured? Squirrels fall all the time - less than they should if you watch them in the trees...

Ok, He went in his house hiding. some blood from nose. He can walk. Actually, climbed back up to his house and went inside. I took the whole house down and just now put it into his release cage. I'm so scared. I love him so much.

I would keep him in his release cage and keep an eye on him until at least tomorrow. Let him sleep - this also probably scared the heck out of him. If he seems to be in pain you can give him some infant ibuprophen. If you can guesstimate his weight, we can dose it for you.

Also, His eyes are rather squinty. However, when I open his cage, he does come out of his house and starts to paw at me. Those eyes just don't look right.

He probably is sore - if he had blood on his nose he smacked his head...

    Will he eat anything?

I have no idea what he weighs, so I'll skip the ibuprofen. Thank you

Also, he fell earlier today trying to jump from the fence to a low branch. He missed the branch and fell. So, that's twice in one day that I know of.

10 months is plenty old enough for him to have developed correctly.

May I ask what food you gave him as he was growing up? Specifically, did you feed him a specific rodent block type food? Squirrels require pretty specific vitamins and minerals to avoid getting metabolic bone disease, and the symptoms would include difficulty landing jumps like this.

Once he was off formula, I fed him two Henry's Protein blocks everyday as well as assortments of foods: apples, lettuce, broccoli, avocado, sweet potato, strawberries, tomatoes, Brussels sprouts, etc.

OK, then you have that part covered. Has he seemed to have any issues with this before or did you not really have enough room in his housing to really judge his jumping ability?

His cage was 8' tall by 6' wide. He was always jumping around in it and seemed fine. However, since I released him about a week ago, he does seem a little clumsy in the trees but nothing alarming until today. When he jumped to the fence and missed a very low branch of a young tree, I thought it was because the trees branch couldn't hold his weight. Then about 5 hours later, he was very high up and fell. However, now that I think about it, he was in our diseased ash tree that has branches that are constantly breaking. I didn't see any branch come down when he fell.

His nose area is now swollen.
