Thank you for finding help for your friend. We can help you.
How long have you had him? You are correct. If the diet is heavy on nuts, he does have Metabolic Bone Disease.
Here is a link for the treatment. https://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/...-MBD-Treatment

Hind end paralysis and seizures are the first obvious symptoms of MBD. It is fatal if not treated so you must start the treatment STAT. You need to get Tums and follow the MBD treatment protocol.

What formula did you use when he was a baby? If the formula was proper, it would be good to give formula. The goat milk is good for now.

No more nuts!! We can work on diet a little later but right now treatment is critical.

MBD is painful so a heating pad on LOW under half the container would be soothing. Make SURE that he can get off of the heat if he gets too warm. Do NOT put a heating pad in the bin/container as he can chew the cord.
Take him out of the cage if it is large. His bones are very fragile so he must not be allowed to climb. He can break bones if he falls.

Keep his stress level low because he could easily have a seizure. (Dark, warm and quiet is good until he is stabilized.)

I sure hope this poster saw the treatment link before they signed off.
    Time is critical.

I moved this members post to a thread of it's own ~2:30,
    it piggybacked an old thread.
I pm'd her a link to her new thread and also one to the
MBD protocol and told her to start the protocol NOW.
I was in a hurry and had to rush out, I should have posted
this on the board so the members wouldn't worry.

She has been on the board since I sent the pm, but I
    have heard nothing.
Fingers crossed this little one was started on the protocol immediately.

I am sending her an email now, with a link to this thread,
and telling her there is help on the board,
just in case she didn't see my pm.

How old is your little one?
What formula was he raised on?
    You have tums coming?
Don't give calcium that contains Vitamin D.
He needs to be on a good quality squirrel block.
Many of us use Henry's blocks.
I would get the picky blocks as that is the only
    ones my squirrels will eat.
    https://www.henryspets.com/squirrel-diet/
He should also be on Esbilac Powdered Puppy formula,
    depending on his age.
What city are you located in?
Perhaps we can find someone to help
    you out if you want.
We don't release these little ones until they
are at least 16 weeks. MBD takes months to
    recover from.
    They also need to be
in an outdoor release cage for at least 2 weeks
    before release.

Here's a great link showing you the best foods for your little one.

You can see if he will take the puppy formula from a syringe. I realize that he is weaned but sometimes they will take the formula. You could also make a temporary goat milk formula. It is made with 3 parts goat milk... 1 part heavy cream... 1 part vanilla yogurt. We have even used the nutritional supplement Ensure for sick squirrels. It is loaded with concentrated nutrients, vitamins and minerals.

I’m trying to think of veggies that he ‘might’ eat. Sugar snap peas are usually a favorite. You could also try a butternut or acorn squash. They love avocado. These are just a few ideas. I would definitely buy the Henry’s picky eater block.
