Of course, I'm not sure if this is what it is, and I'm not a rehabber...but most often this is the problem when these symptoms present. Also, the treatment won't hurt him. And if this IS the problem, the treatment could save his life.

AFTER you start this treatment, read through the MBD info under SPECIFIC AILMENTS in the Board Index. I'll go back and get you a link.

Hi I was wondering how you can tell they have MBD? My 7 week old squirrel has the same symptoms of this post question & just started happening. Fed her & warmed her & seem a lot better & is hydrated, but not 100%. Should I give her the treatment?

If your squirrel is truly 7 weeks old (not 7 months) she is way way too young to have MBD. What type of formula do you have her on right now? At her age she has at least 3-4 weeks left on formula and it should be either Esbilac with probiotics or Fox Valley Day One 20/50. ??

BTW, this is a very very old thread. You'd do better creating a new thread in the Emergency Help Needed, Life Threatening section so that more eyes will see it and be able to help you.

I moved these 2 posts to a new thread in the emergency section, and
sent ASCHAVEZ85 a link to the thread.

My squirrel is having same issue. I believe she swallowed wrong & has pneumonia. How much antibiotics do you give them? She 7-8 weeks.

In order to dose the antibiotics we need to know which antibiotic you have, what the strength of it is (mg) and the weight of the squirrel.

You were given dosing for Ciproflaxin, correct? Did you give the full course of the antibiotics for 7 days, or as prescribed? Is your little one still sick? Are there different symptoms or new symptoms?

The dosing was sent to the original poster. This was piggybacked on to another thread. ASCHAVEZ85 give us a weight, the milligrams of the antibiotic and which antibiotic you have and we can dose it for you.

Thank you! I am still learning how this site works. I will get all that & get back to you ASAP.

Ok so she weighs 98gms is almost 8 weeks old. Can I use a generic brand for bactrim 400-80mg tablets. Says it treats respiratory infections.

I am going to send you dosing for Bactrim 480 mg in a pm.
Give me a minute to write this up and I'lll send instructions in a pm.
I'm getting confused what your little one needs abs for, as
Bactrim is a slow acting antibiotic.
Can you let us know why the antibiotics?

Also 98 grams is VERY tiny for an 8 week old squirrel.
    Can you post a photo?

I am posting these photos of ASCHAVEZ85's little squirrel Hammy.
I have to run out for ~ an hour, so if anyone can help her, it will be so appreciated.

This first picture is when she (Hammy) was first rescued:

What a cute baby. I just love those Western greys. We don’t see many of those on TSB.

I didn’t realize that Nancy sent dosing earlier. In response to your PM, I also sent dosing.
