Default Adult Male with head and mouth injury . . .

I got this guy out of the road on saturday. He has a pretty good closed head injury and some damage to his mouth.
He is unstable on his feet, but seems to be more "with it" as time goes on. He just began drinking water from a syringe yesterday. Im certain he will survive.

Now I need to feed him. I need to feed him a liquid type diet for now - does anyone have suggestions? Right now my wife just said he ate some liquified strawberry and blackberry is that safe?

Thank you for any guidance you can provide -

Try some veggie or veggie and fruit baby foods. If you can get to a pet store and buy some Mazuri or Oxbow rodent BLOCK you can put it in a blender and crush it to a fine powder. Mix it with the baby food and thin it a little with some water. He might lick it from a bowl if he really objects to the syringe.

If he’s unstable and has closed head trauma a course of prednisone might help with the inflammation. Do you have any or can you locate any?

    What an angel you are!

Keep up with hydration. He needs pain meds and anti inflammatory meds. Do you have any prednisone? Tramadol? Gabapentin? Is there any injuries that are open? A picture would help.

Try baked sweet potatoes, avocado, veggie/fruit baby food. Keep us posted and we can come up with more food as he gets better.

He is sitting on his haunches now and seems much more alert. His head is swollen. Has blood on on side of his mouth. Ill try to clean him up tonight. I will do my best to locate some prednisone. Thank you for the food suggestions - I will let my wife know since she is taking care of him while i am at work. Ill get a picture uploaded as well.

Methylcocalamin & Adenocobalamin) Vitamin B-12 has been found to help heal the brain from TBI (traumatic brain injury) in rats.

It also has been found to have pain relieving properties in nerve damage.

It is very important with head injury to give the natural forms of vitamin B-12 ASAP (not the synthetic form of cyanocobalamin)

    for optimum effect.

This source contains these same natural forms of B-12.

Pick up some Ensure - the human meal replacement shakes. They often like sweet stuff. You can blend other stuff into them, too. They aren't a long term solution but are good for short term nutrition.

He is much better today. His right side is his better side - this is the side of his mouth we feed him with. His left side is where the main injury is. He just ate 30 ml of liquified strawberry/blackberry and 10 ml of water. I that too much?

Do you have any tramadol, metacam or infant ibuprofen? This little one looks like it is in a lot of pain and doesn’t feel well at all. If you don’t have any of the prescription drugs mentioned, could you at least get some INFANT ibuprofen? Someone on here can help you does it for him. We will need his weight, if you haven’t already posted it and the strength of the meds you have or get.

What a wonderful offer, Grinderhead! A licensed rehabber will be able to get this little guy all the medical help he needs to give him his best shot to get back to the trees. He needs some anti inflammatories ASAP to decrease any swelling, before it’s too late. Please reach out to Grinderhead in a private message or on your thread so he can put you in touch with the rehabber.
