Tail came off! De-gloved
Hi Squirrelers!
Peanut lost the top about inch and a half of his tail on Tuesday. There was some blood but not much. Saw on here that this happens (which helped us not lose our minds). It is a shocking, shocking thing to witness. Anyway, just wanted to check with our treatment.
Peanut will be 2 in August. He lives in a large outdoor patio enclosure. He is otherwise very healthy (just balance issues from a bad fall as a baby which made him NR).
So far, we have been cleaning 1x day with Betadine 1/20 solution, dabbing a little Neosporin and offering .2ml of baby ibuprofen 2x day. Is there anything else we should be doing? How long before it 'dries up and falls off', the exposed cartilage part?
He is active and otherwise normal. Maybe a little grumpier since he doesn't feel great.
