    Default Weird Patches on Squirrel

After a storm, I found a baby squirrel who is around 4 weeks old. Not until now, I have discovered that that my squirrel has patches of hair missing on his fur. He is around 6 weeks old and the patches seem to be increasing, can someone please tell me how to cure or help this issue and diagnose it?

    Hi Mermaid
    to TheSquirrelBoard

Can you post a pic? That would help a lot to determine what's going on.

Actually I can't tell much from the pic. How does the skin under those parted areas look? It looks like he's scratching there....uniform rows. Just to make sure, you don't have a cat or other animal that could have scratched him? Just want to rule that out.

The patches may be because of him scratching the area. He frequently claws at that part of his body. I do have animals in my house that could harm him, but I don’t allow them to go near my squirrel and try to keep them separate from each other.

Can you get ahold of some kitten Revolution. It’s available by Rx or online at joespetmeds.com. The online stuff comes from Australia, but doesn’t require a Rx. I wonder if your little one could have mites. Have you bathed him with some Dawn dish detergent? You don’t see any fleas, do you? The Revolution will kill some mites, but I don’t know if it kills all. It’s safe, though.

I have not washed him with Dawn soap but I will try to do so. I can not see any fleas on him so I don’t think that is the case. Mites may be the problem so I will attempt to get and use the item. Thanks for the recommendation.

Actually Revolution does and has more coverage on the different types of mites then does Ivermectin.
