    Question Baby squirrel cold

We have a baby squirrel which is definitely over 6 weeks old and has hair all over his body and a very fluffy tail. I read on some sites that the heating pad can go away after 5 weeks. I did it yesterday and when I took him out he felt cold and not warm to the touch so I put it back on. What do I do?

I usually leave it on until I see that they choose to move off of it more than on it. There’s no set time frame for when it has to be removed.

Can you tell us more about your baby? A healthy normal grey squirrel at good body weight fully furred at six weeks should be able to thermo regulate. How much does your baby weigh? What formula is it on? How long have you had him? Do you hear any clicking when he breathes?

I read in your bio that this squirrel fell out of the attic.
    Have you checked for more?
Maybe there is a chance of reuniting with mom.
Do you see any adults around?

Sorry I just read that you left him outside for a few hours
    and nobody came.
Also PLEASE keep him away from the dogs at all times.
We have seen too many deadly accidents from "dogs
that would NEVER hurt a baby squirrel"
    Yes, they do!
