Default Squirrel rehab in Tampa Bay Area?

Can’t figure out how to post picture..but I think I have a 5 week old Eastern Grey Squirrel. Found her covered in fleas and flies while walking my dog on Saturday. I don’t have any background in this, but I’ve been scouring the internet for help. What I have done so far is: got her cleaned up and bathed, still see some fleas on her though. I went out and got a syringe (trying to be super careful! I know, I’m terrified of hurting the poor thing). Did plain pedialyte. Then got Ebsilac and I’ve been doing that for her. Tried a few fruits and she hated them. Gave her a pecan and she loved it. So it’s been half pecan and half liquid today. Also, have her in a safe container, away from pets, quiet, heated blanket, little nest of blankets.

The thing is-I think she is paralyzed. Doesn’t seem to move back legs or tail. Only stays curled up and uncurls for feeding. Doesn’t explore. She is fully fured, eyes open, tail fluffy, maybe 5 inches long? She fits in my palm. Really not sure what to do. Is there any recovery from where she is at?

What should I do? If she is that hurt..do I need to take her somewhere to be humanely put to sleep? Breaks my heart, but if that’s what’s best I want to know what I can do to make her as comfortable as possible in the mean time. I know it’s Mother Nature, but it just pulls at my heart strings...Really appreciate any help and input. If there is anyone reading this that lives on this side of Florida-would you be willing to take her on?

Thank you, I read all. Making adjustments to the feeding regimen. Ordered some blocks. Lots of good information.

It is powder form, been adding water. I’m making it more diluted than the recommended 1:2. I’m doing more like 1:3-4.

Baby needs the nutrition, I would mix as directed 1-2 and give water in between feedings if you feel she needs more hydration.
Do you have a weight to know how much you should be feeding?

I'm in your area but not able to take a NR baby. There's a rehabber I met recently in a Facebook group who has a NR and might be willing to take him if you haven't decided to keep yourself. Feel free to give me a call or text tomorrow and I can put y'all in touch. My cell is 813-541-6636.

Tater try (lightly) pinching babies toes and tail to see if there is any reaction.

Without treatment I wouldn't be so fast as to determine she is an NR, prednisone
has done wonders with parlyisis to get some back on their feet and some have
even been releasable. Pred is used for pain, inflammation, asthma, among others.

Any chance of you obtaining prednisone?
Do you have any pain meds, if you do tell us what you have and we can tell you if
    it can be used.

No..unfortunately I don’t have a scale. I’ve been doing 6cc four times a day. But I have a feeling it’s under where she should be.

That’s encouraging to hear, I am completely unfamiliar with any of that. I tried lightly pinching tail and back feet-no response. I have been worrying about possible pain. I don’t have Prednisone, is that otc? I have ibuprofen, and I’m willing to get what I can for her.

Just want to thank everyone for the support and help. I was feeling overwhelmed about what to do and this is giving me hope.

Update on the little one: she wasn’t as interested in the Ebsilac this morning. Got about 2.5 cc before she started really hiding her head.

Thank you for helping her. Let me see if I can find someone on that side of the state that might have prednisone. If not, I’ll send you some, along with Gabapentin. Give me a little while.

Edit: I have reached out to a rehabber in your area. She will be checking in on this thread and will try to help. Please continue to check back on your thread frequently.

You rock! Thanks! I’ll update the status of the baby throughout the process. My plan A is to get her a better caregiver, but I’ll certainly do everything I can in the meantime.

If this little one was covered with flies, could maggots be eating away at him/her?

Good point. Please check the little ones ears to be sure there are no maggots lurking.

Gave her a thorough examination and didn’t find any eggs. I wouldn’t say covered, so much as it was probably 10 or so big old nasty flies around her. I am pretty confident that I got her pretty early on though.
